I live in New York where I’m working full time on Proper Cloth, a men’s custom clothing label focused on premium quality, fitted dress shirts.
I blog because writing things out helps me better understand them. There are two things in particular I like to read and write about.
The first is all things “startup”. I want to understand why new business opportunities become available and what makes a new company successful. Everything from big-picture strategies to on the ground tactics. Primarily web enabled b2c startups.
The second is design. I want to create products that are appealing and elegant. I find user interfaces intriguing. I want to better understand how to make tools that people enjoy using. I want to better understand people.
My background…
I spent the majority of my childhood growing up in Guam. At the time I loved surfing and sailing. I also played soccer, basketball and ran track. I like sports.
For undergrad I studied electrical engineering at UCSD while working continuous internships at Scripps Institute of Oceanography and then ViaSat. I helped design and solder RF circuits and wrote testing scripts for satellite modems.
I started my first company while in college. Sfinx Productions is an event planning and promotions company. It was a lot of fun. We put together parties with celebrities, bus-trips to Mexico, huge yacht events, you name it. We even made some money.
When I finished college I went to LA and worked as an engineer at Northrop Grumman. I led a 20 person team that built a new hardware/software sensor control system for a military aircraft.
In 2006 I started the MBA at MIT Sloan. I went with the intention of starting another company but wasn’t sure what or how. I had a fantastic experience. I met great people, traveled to interesting places and wrote numerous business plans.
After graduating in 2008, I started Proper Cloth and moved to New York.
I am Seph250 on twitter.
